Sardine Flats

Its Launceston Show Day, a public holiday so that the multitudes may go and inspect cattle, sheep and all other things agricultural plus buy show bags full of junk and confectionary and also ride the rides so that it will either give you a thrill or make you sick. It is terribly windy and hot today, I don't like the multitude's chances when riding those whirly gig things waaaaaay up high in the air.

The old school oval where my children went to primary school has been sold and they have started to excavate and do stuff for a housing estate. About 33 blocks of housing lots are up for sale, and 8 ? have been sold. They're calling the estate Youngtown Mews and someone has graffitied the sign and has nicknamed it Sardine Flats. hahaha! it is an appropriate name. Anyway, now they have to lay the cables, maybe telephone?, and they have started to dig up the nature strip on our side of the road and they said they will carefully go under the driveways. Toby carefully watches the workers just in case 'something happens'. I'm wondering why they couldn't do it on the other side of the road because then its on the same side as the housing estate. HAVE THEY MADE AN ERROR? Or would it have been toooo easy to do it that way? Triple time for the boys today because it’s a public holiday unless they are on new workplace agreements :(

So this is outside our place. Toby thinks it was exciting to watch the mini digger-whatever you call it excavating and the workmen doing whatever it takes to excavate. Remember, Toby takes his sentry duties very seriously; and all was well on this occasion.

Cables were placed very neatly and the nature strip ... will eventually recover after this trauma.
